A Virtual Floral Exhibition
The Phoenix Rising floral exhibition was created by the Southern Chapter of AIFD® with the support of the AIFD Foundation, to forward the endowment of the David Shover AIFD fund.
David was the beloved General Manager of Karin’s Florist, and the President Elect of AIFD®, at the time of his death. Although this fundraiser was held all over the country, Karin’s Florist wanted to really showcase amazing floral arrangements in David’s honor.
On July 11 and 12, six fabulous floral design teams made up of fellow designers, friends and co- workers of David’s, took their tools, sketches of design ideas and flowers, and spread out to six different locations to create works of art.
The installations were all specially designed for each location and inspired by the hope and renewal symbology of the theme, Phoenix Rising. The locations ranged from a brick wall in front of a restaurant, to park benches and entry ways, to a common area near a bus stop. All were unique!
The endeavor was recognized by a Washington DC area news station and features about it were aired several times during the following weeks.
Karin’s Florist windows, dressed in the theme and spirit of this project, still remain on display. Thanks to everyone who supported this event!
