Structural Difference Between the National and Regional Chapter Boards

Submitted by Janet Black AIFD | AIFD® National Past President

There are some significant differences between the organizational structure of the National and Regional Chapter Boards of Directors.

The National Board of Directors is the governing body of the American Institute of Floral Designers. National Officers are elected by the members of the National Board, not the General Membership of AIFD. Elections are held during symposium, each year for the office of Vice President and Secretary.

National Officers, except for the Past President, President, President Elect and Vice President retain their status as a Director- At -Large or a Regional Representative of our six regions.

On the other hand, Chapter Officers are elected by the membership of their respective chapters. A slate of nominations will be approved by the Chapter Boards for elections in the fall. Reach out to your Chapter Nominations Committee and get involved! Three Directors are nominated each year, Executive Board and Committee positions are always needed. Each year the Full Membership will vote for two Director At Large Positions for the National Board. It is my duty this year as your National Past President to chair the National Nominations Committee. If you have an interest in submitting your name for consideration to run for the position of Director At Large please contact me. I am happy to submit your name to the committee. Four AIFD members will run for the two positions.
