Spreading the Positivity of Flowers during the Pandemic Period

Submitted by Dr. Solomon Leong AIFD

While the pandemic has blocked us from travelling around the globe, it doesn’t stop us from spreading the joy and positivity of flowers in the community.

Dr. Solomon Leong, AIFD PFCI CFD and his team has been holding regular seasonal workshops with sunshine kids (cancer survivors) at the Children’s Cancer Foundations (CCF) since 2020 ranging from simple appreciation of flowers, basic floral skills, structure building and we have just completed our third program named “A touch of summer”.

These workshops provide opportunity for the sunshine kids to unleash their creativity and to experience the inspirations of flowers. These workshops also provide a platform for them to communicate and support each other.

Dr. Solomon picked “Sunflowers” as the flower to best represent the sunshine kids.  “They rise, shine and always hold their heads high towards the sun. Just like the Sunshine Kids radiating positivity and striving to live lives passionately.” He hopes that the Sunshine Kids could embrace every moment and live life to the fullest, be bright, sunny and positive, shining like the sunflowers.

Since 2018 Dr. Solomon and his team have been raising funds for CCF through a calendar charity sale.
