Attending SAF Next Gen LIVE! 2026 was a first for me, and from the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed. The atmosphere was vibrant, full of fresh energy, curiosity, and momentum. Surrounded by so many professionals under 45, I was reminded that the future of our industry was in that space—and it is actively being shaped right now by the people in that room.

I had the honor of presenting “Everyday Blooms, Extraordinary Profitability,” a program centered on elevating the everyday stems we sometimes overlook. My goal was to encourage designers and business owners to rethink the value of flowers that may seem ordinary at first glance, and to recognize the profitability and creative potential they hold when we approach them with intention.
While I was proud to share that message, what stood out most was the exchange that happened during and after the session. Looking out into the audience and seeing designers leaning in, asking questions, and reflecting on how they might shift their own language and approach reinforced something powerful—we truly need each other. Education is never one-directional; it is a shared experience that invites conversation, sparks ideas, and moves our industry forward.

Continental Farms generously sponsored my program, and their beautiful product allowed the designs to speak confidently for themselves. Their support exemplified the kind of collaboration that makes events like this meaningful. Smithers Oasis also generously provided containers and accessories that integrated beautifully into the program and supported the mechanics behind the designs.

While I was presenting and networking with attendees, I had a chance to share more about AIFD; what our mission is, how we support the industry, and of course, about our upcoming ELEVATE symposium. It was a treat to spark enthusiasm with this crowd, most of whom have not been a part of AIFD events in the past.
After presenting, I had the opportunity to step back and enjoy the rest of the convention. One highlight was Talmage McLaurin, AIFD, presenting “Trend Lab: From Inspiration to Implementation.” Watching another AIFD member present brought a meaningful sense of shared representation and pride.
In addition to his program, Talmage also led a hands-on trends workshop where participants were guided through identifying inspirations, selecting color palettes, and building their own inspiration boards at each table. It was exciting to see designers actively engage with the creative process, discussing ideas, exploring color relationships, and translating inspiration into tangible concepts. The room was filled with conversation, creativity, and curiosity—exactly the kind of environment that fuels growth and innovation in our field.

What I left with most was gratitude—gratitude for the organizers who created such a thoughtful event, for the sponsors who supported the programs, and for the many conversations that happened in hallways, classrooms, and shared meals. Those connections matter.
Next Gen LIVE! Was more than a conference. It was a reminder that when we gather, collaborate, and openly exchange ideas, we strengthen not only our individual businesses but the future of our entire industry.
