Theresa Riddle AIFD recently passed and I was honored to have known this charming lady, and a true visionary. She was the sixth woman to become a President of the American Institute of Floral Designers during the years of 1986-1987. At the time, there were only two other women holding positions on the National Board; Pam Linder AIFD and Jan Bjurstrom AIFD.
Riddle moved up the ranks serving as Secretary and Vice President before taking on the roll of President. Theresa was a moving factor in the progress of the organization, specifically in Membership.
While on the Membership Committee for three years and Chairman during her tenure, Theresa complied and published the first standardized portfolio to be used for Membership applications. The portfolio had its first revision by Theresa. Correspondence was done by phone and mail making the process one of dedication.
Theresa was a member of the Southern Chapter and on their board as a secretary/treasurer. She was elected regional President in 1982 serving two terms, then on the National Board, the Bylaw committee, Ethics Committee and a Trustee of the AIFD Foundation. The “College of Fellows” welcomed her into membership in 1981. Most recently, Theresa was a member of our History Committee and served as a Life Member Advisor.
