Back in January 1993 Todd Sweden AIFD, from Arkansas, was asked by the office of the First Lady Hillary Clinton to chair the floral events surrounding the inauguration. Todd had a connection with the Clinton family and was asked to help produce an Inaugural floral display like no other. Oh yes, and the thirteen (13) inaugural balls and the Congressional Luncheon held by US Congress at Statuary Hall.
Todd contacted Thomas Powell AIFD to be his co-chair. It was a month-long process. AIFD and SAF members, approximately two hundred (200) in all, organized and creating events in a theme of red, white, and blue, as requested. Stunning red roses filled the halls with blue delphinium and white mums all around. All the meal function designs were low and compact.
