BloomNet will match member florist donations dollar for dollar, up to $5,000, that are contributed to the AIFD Foundation Catastrophic Fund. Grants, awarded from this fund, provide assistance to impacted florists with property damage resulting from a natural disaster.
You may remember that in recent years, with funds established for a specific purpose, the AIFD Foundation supported those affected by Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma. In each of these situations there was a state association who worked in concert with the AIFD Foundation to respond to these specific events. With only specific funds set for specific purposes, there was no fund in place when we were faced with an individual living in grave circumstances due to a massive hurricane or to assist those who lost their business or experienced damage to their home due to the fires in California.
The AIFD Foundation Board of Trustees saw the necessity to establish a fund to assist those in grave need in a timely manner and established the AIFD Foundation Catastrophic Fund. The AIFD Foundation Catastrophic Fund provides support for those who experience property damage to their place of business or residence resulting from a natural disaster.
BloomNet has supported this effort every step of the way dating back to the days of Hurricane Harvey and Hurricane Irma. They are here today to assist those most recently experiencing property damage during Hurricane Ida.
