AIFD, recently lost another mentor, Gary Schott AIFD. Although I did not know Gary on a personal level, I do know, he inspired me in 1999. Yes that was some time ago, but the vivid memories from that Symposium flashed back into mind.
AIFD® history began in the mid-sixties, with creative floral designers coming together to watch programs featuring Buddy Benz, Tommy Bright and Sylvia Valencia. Education was limited to a group of accomplished designers reaching out for more.

The Historian Committee is meeting to discuss the 60th Anniversary of AIFD which will take place in 2025, and to create a book that every AIFD member can enjoy.
The 1990 Symposium was kicked off with “Dancing and Fellowship” hosted by the North Central and Northeast Regional Chapters. The next morning there was a breakfast bar for everyone attending to enjoy.
