The Garden Club of America (GCA) named Chris Norwood AIFD, vice president at Tipton & Hurst in Little Rock, AR, as one of it’s distinguished honorary members for 2020. Members are professionals with established reputations in gardening, botany, conservation, education and design, who contribute their efforts to the GCA. “We are thrilled to have Chris join the ranks as an honorary member,” said SaSa Panarese, chairman, GCA Admissions Committee. “He is a true leader in the floral industry, an innovative and gifted designer, a businessman and a mentor. He spreads his wealth of knowledge and design acumen across the country, and we are delighted to welcome him.”
An honorary member must be nominated by a current GCA member, who then compiles a comprehensive portfolio that is presented and voted on by a designated committee. Only four honorary members are selected per year.
Norwood says since the Little Rock Garden Club made the announcement at their annual meeting in December – as well as when it went public this month — he’s had an overwhelming response. “I am so honored and humbled to receive this recognition because it was from my floral peers who thought I was worthy,” he said. “I truly cannot wait to be among such wonderful people at the convention,” Norwood added, citing GCA’s 107th annual meeting in Asheville, NC, in May.
