From Lockdown to Spring Inspiration with Wil Gonzalez AIFD, CFD

Submitted by Greg Lum AIFD

On Saturday April 9th Floral Artists of the Bay Area presented Wil Gonzalez AIFD, CFD at Floral Supply Syndicate in San Jose, California.

Wil created several designs inspired by nature and the season of Spring. He showed the audience several techniques on how to create beautiful Spring designs, whether it be for the home, office or for a corporate event. He also talked about how more and more events are taking place in-person, to be ready for that personal touch that clients are looking for.

He discussed everything about his experiences creating events during these times, from such natural designs using a wide variety of fresh produce, to creating complex armatures using zip ties and water tubes.

“The hosting warehouse was knowledgeable, generous and helpful. Thank you

Defino Garcia (FSS Store manager)!! The floral contributors were equally generous, and their donations were lovely to work with. The volunteers helping were fantastic, a big tip of the hat to

The Floral Artists of the Bay Area for sponsoring such an event.”

“As a stage designer, I enjoyed the space, and only hoped it wasn’t too hot for the guests. I even enjoyed there being a trash receptacle to include as part of the presentation (Dumpster FireDesign). The doorway made for a good stage and the pipe and drape were perfect.”

“My favorite designs were the all-white spring arrangement, the colorful Easter designs with the breakaway pieces to give to guests, and the large Fire-wood piece that I started and ended the program with. I enjoyed sharing what and how I prep blank ‘greened in’ pieces that allows customers to build up their custom designs, and build up the bottom line for the working florist. Thank you again and best of luck!” – Wil Gonzalez AIFD, CFD
