It is always a joy and huge privilege to be invited to judge the floral exhibits at the RHS Chelsea Flower Show and it was just as wonderful when I received the invitation to judge the floral exhibits for Belgravia in Bloom and Chelsea in Bloom this year from the RHS and Cadogan Estates.
Belgravia in Bloom
Judged Monday, May 24, 2022
Returning for its seventh year, Belgravia in Bloom 2022 flaunted the most gorgeous floral displays and incredible experiences around Belgravia – a wonderful exclusive borough in London – which is just a short walk away from the RHS Chelsea Flower Show and the other equally exclusive borough of Chelsea.
The theme this year was ‘Beautifully British’ — apt for this summer’s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations, celebrating our glorious Queens 70-year reign. There were gorgeously arranged floral arches and sculptures all around the borough. All the top restaurants, boutique stores, hotels and many more business’s around the iconic streets of Pimlico Road, Elizabeth Road, Motcomb Street were involved.
I was part of a judging team of 5 and we spent 6 hours walking through the beautiful streets of Belgravia judging each exhibit – a total of 38 in total. We had a wonderful time, meeting and being greeted by each business, each explaining their creative individual exhibits and the rationale and thinking behind their creations. We had the tough job of awarding:
- Best Overall Display (fresh materials).
- Best Overall Display (silk/faux materials).
- Best Interpretation of the theme.
- Most Innovative.
All other entrants were then ranked with a gold, silver or a merit.
Me with 2 of my fellow judges and being in the pink with an exhibit!
Some of the amazing installations in Belgravia 2022!
