The education landscape is changing and AIFD® is changing with it! We have updated the continuing education units to-be more inclusive of all types of learning opportunities. As leaders in the floral industry, you understand the value of achieving knowledge. Receiving your certification level is a fabulous goal to achieve, but as trends change and new products are introduced, it’s important to stay current by continuing to educate yourself. As mentors, educators and leaders in the floral community, we wanted to include those roles as options to help you earn your CEU’s points.
Some exciting new options are:
֍ Earn points when you volunteer in the workroom of a national or local floral conference or class.
֍ Earn points from online virtual classes, or in person floral conferences, with bonus points for classes with AIFD instructors, or at AIFD Educational partners schools.
For the teaching community, use the opportunity to advertise the CEU point values as a benefit to your potential students. Market that you are an AIFD certified evaluator. Use the opportunity to expand your marketing beyond the membership.
Volunteering in a leadership role, or participating on a committee, is another option to earn points. Connecting with other floral professionals to advance AIFD® is a wonderful opportunity to network with other, like-minded, passionate individuals. Joining in is easy! Continual professional development activities are essential in enabling professional floral designers to demonstrate their creative abilities and talent. Therefore, to maintain accreditation as a member of the American Institute of Floral Designers®, floral designers must accumulate 30 points of continuing education or floral industry leadership every five (5) years and submit a completed Continuing Education Renewal Report form. As a reminder, AIFD® accredited members must report a minimum of five (5) leadership/services/educator/presenter units as part of their 30-unit report.
It can be challenging to remember all of your floral activities from the past 5 years. I recommend that you print out the CEU Renewal Report form and use it to keep a log as time goes on. This will make for easy submission of points when you need to. With all the new options available, it will be easy to achieve the points needed!
Follow this link to find more details, and to see what years your reports will need to be made, based on your induction year.
