First and foremost as I begin this report, I must say thank you for giving me the opportunity to serve AIFD® as your 2022-2023 president. The honor is humbling and I continue to be mindful of all this office entails. The presidents before me have provided great leadership and direction which I will continue to follow.
The first few months have been busy with multiple Zoom meetings, phone calls, and travel. The weekend after Symposium, at the invitation of President Jackie Lacey AIFD and Executive Director Bob Tucker, I traveled to Orlando, Florida, for the Florida State Florists Association International convention. There, I enjoyed seeing the Gateway to the Americas competition with 22 AIFD members participating in design competition. Debra and Gus Da la Flor served as directors for this amazing event.
September 8, 9, 10, I attended the Arkansas State Florists Association convention in Little Rock where Shane Bradley Cranford AIFD, our South Central Regional Representative to the national board, was inducted as president. Several AIFD designers competed in the Mid America Cup during the convention. Participants came from throughout the United States and Canada.
During this year, as I visit all our regions, I look forward to hopefully seeing you as I learn about your interests and coming events. Be sure to contact me in advance to let me know your regions’ plans.
