President’s Message: Spring Into Action

Spring is a season of renewal. In nature, it’s when dormant seeds begin to push through the soil and the promise of what’s ahead becomes visible. Within AIFD®, spring carries that same energy. It’s a time when we gather, reflect, and take important steps that shape the future of our organization.

In the coming weeks, our Spring National Board Meeting will bring the Board of Directors together to review our progress and continue advancing the initiatives that support our members and our mission. These meetings are where thoughtful conversation turns into meaningful action.

Spring also marks the beginning of our leadership election season. Our organization thrives because members step forward to serve, bringing their passion, ideas, and perspectives to the table. I encourage each of you to take part in this process, whether by considering service or by casting your vote. Your participation helps guide the future of AIFD.

Another important moment this season is the membership dues renewal period. Renewal is more than a yearly task; it’s a reaffirmation of the commitment we share to elevate the art of floral design and to support one another as professionals. The strength of AIFD has always been rooted in the engagement of its members.

Looking ahead, our community will soon gather for the ELEVATE Symposium, the highlight of the AIFD calendar. Symposium is where education, creativity, and connection come together in a way that is uniquely AIFD. It’s a space where we learn from one another, celebrate our artistry, and continue raising the bar for our profession. Registration is now open!!

As I reflect on this Presidential year so far, I’m reminded how powerful it is to experience our community in action.

In January, I had the opportunity to visit Tempe Blooms with members of the Southwest Chapter. Spending time together in their local community was a wonderful reminder of the creativity and camaraderie that defines our chapters.

More recently, I was proud to participate in the Philadelphia Flower Show alongside the Northeast Chapter and the talented students of Bucks County Community College. Seeing students collaborate with experienced designers on such a visible stage—one seen by hundreds of thousands of visitors—was both inspiring and energizing. Congratulations to the North East Chapter on their GOLD medal winning exhibit:

I also had the pleasure of attending the North Central Chapter Mid-Year Meeting during the Illinois State Florists Association conference. Opportunities like these to connect with members, share ideas, and celebrate our craft reinforce the incredible dedication that exists throughout our chapters.

Each of these moments reminds me that AIFD is more than an organization—it is a vibrant community built on mentorship, artistry, and shared purpose.

As we move through this season of renewal, I encourage you to stay engaged: renew your membership, participate in elections, and join us as we gather for Symposium. Together, we continue to nurture the growth of our organization and elevate the future of floral design.

In Flowers and Friendship,
