Remembering the AIFD Presidents of the 1960’s

With the exciting Designs of the Decades Floral Competition in full swing we must remember our AIFD Presidents of the 1960’s who were true visionaries.

 From left to right; Arthur F. McKee AIFD    1965-1966

Arthur was involved in industry design and an exceptional commentator. He did parties for; the Duke and Dutchess of York, San Diego Opera Company and “La Cage Aux Fous” in New York. Arthur designed movie sets, weddings and parties for the “rich and famous”.

Bea Frambach AIFD   1966-1967 and 1967-1968

Cofounder and organizing secretary for AIFD. She designed flowers for fashion illustration backgrounds. A gift buyer for the Biltmore Florists, Inc. Bea was the first member of the “College of Fellows” AIFD. She was also instrumental in the formation of student membership.

Arthur Ito AIFD 1968-1969 and 1969-1970

Arthur jumped into the floral industry at the age of 16 in 1935 working for a nursery flower shop. He served in the Army during World War II, upon his return he opened a flower stand. His flowers were on movie sets of; The Jeffersons, My Fair Lady, Colby, and Dynasty to name a few. Art served as a trustee for AAF and won the California Retailer of the Year Award. Regional Director of FTD, President and Vice President. He helped form the Gordon Student Chapter at Cal Poly.
