We go to them a lot, right. Sitting theatre style in the auditorium or ballroom or warehouse with the speaker on stage in front, wowing us with their floral artistry. It’s what we’ve come to look forward to when we go these floral conferences.
NCSFA surprised me with a totally different approach floral programs. Sitting on a comfortable sofa amid a group of new-found friends, glass of wine in hand, I was treated to a lovely runway floral fashion show of headdresses, floral wearables and bouquets. The program was offered toward the end of a cocktail/light dinner affair, complete with ambiance lighting, fabulous music, gorgeous arrangements set on stylish high-tops and cocktail tables. The room styling for this, and all subsequent programs encouraged interaction between attendees and attendees and presenter.
Kudos to the board and coordinators at NC State Florists Association under the leadership of now past-president Lyn Graves. Each meal setting and stage décor/configuration was different providing a beautifully elegant and idea-inspiring way to learn about trends in the floral industry from some top-notch designers and speakers from allied industries.
