Student Competition Orlando – ELEVATE

In this year’s competition, we had 27 students representing 7 schools: 

  • University of Missouri
  • Cal Poly
  • New Mexico State University
  • Texas A&M
  • Western Kentucky University
  • Kishwaukee College
  • Seneca College

SAIFD Students showed up and showed out at this year’s Student Competition. This year’s theme was “WICKED” and the students stepped up to the plate and created some amazing designs.

Arrangement

Students were asked to design a defying gravity arrangement to welcome the kids to the first day of school. Must include vertical lines and be monochromatic.  

1st place -Madelynn Gripp from Western KY

2nd place – Emma Baepler from Missouri

3rd place – Faith Totzke from Kishwaukee

Fashion flower 

Create an ostentatious lapel piece for the wizard’s annual speech. Must be at least 6’’ long and have groupings.

1st place – Marrow Moon from Seneca College

2nd place- Madelynn Gripp from Western KY

3rd place – Brianna Stewart from Western KY

Flowers to carry

We asked the students to create a whimsical bouquet to present to Glinda as she makes her grand entrance in her famous bubble. 

 Imagine a light and airy non-traditionally held bouquet with some sparkle and shine. 

1st place – Brianna Stewart from Western KY

2nd place tie – Daisy Machado Sanchez from Western Ky & Emma Baepler from Missouri

3rd place Ariel Wolfe from Western KY

Interpretive

‘Nobody mourns the wicked” 

Design a tribute for Elphaba, to be viewed from all sides and must include leaf manipulation and banding. 

1st place – Ashley Taylor from Texas A&U

2nd place -Hope Cannedy from New Mexico

3rd place – Madelynn Gripp from Western KY

NOW for the overall winners of the competition

Overall 2nd runner up goes to FAITH TOTZKE from KISHWAUKEE COLLEGE

Overall 1st runner up goes to EMMA BAEPLER from MISSOURI

And the overall designer of the year is MADELYNN GRIPP from WESTERN KY

She will receive a scholarship from the foundation to take the PFDE exam within the next 3 years. 

And finally the last student competition award of the evening.

Highest overall average score  for a school

 goes to WESTERN KY UNIVERSITY
