There is so much to think about as we look ahead to a new year. Have you set a priority or intention for where you want to focus your energy in 2026?

One practice I’ve found incredibly meaningful is choosing a Word of the Year—a single word that helps guide my focus, mindset, and goals. It becomes a touchstone for decision-making and a reminder to stay centered on what truly matters. Between that word and a simple vision-style “bingo card” of goals, I’m able to stay on track and mindfully appreciate each step of progress along the way.
My word for 2026 is Elevate.
Not only is Elevate the theme of our 2026 AIFD National Symposium, but it also offers clear direction and serves as a powerful filter for decisions—what to say yes to, what to refine, and what to release. I invite you to consider joining me in selecting Elevate as your Word of the Year.
So, what does it mean to focus on Elevate?
- Choose growth with intention. Not simply doing more, but doing things better, higher, and more aligned.
- Elevate your standards. Say yes to opportunities that match your expertise and energy, and set clearer boundaries around your time and availability.
- Elevate your work. Choose projects where your voice and perspective truly add value, and prioritize depth, quality, and impact over frequency.
- Elevate your relationships. Invest in collaborations that feel mutual and energizing, and step away from dynamics that no longer support your growth.
- Elevate yourself. Move from reactive to intentional, and recognize that you deserve time and space for clarity, creativity, and rest.
When you choose Elevate as your Word of the Year, you are choosing alignment, discernment, and growth. You are committing to becoming the next version of yourself—one rooted in clarity, confidence, and purpose.
And when you choose to attend the AIFD National Symposium: Elevate, taking place July 2–5, 2026, in Orlando, you’ll experience that transformation firsthand. You’ll leave elevated by what you learn, who you meet, and the inspiration you carry forward—ready not only to elevate yourself, but to elevate those around you.
Purpose. Clarity. Confidence.
Elevated.
