Why did you go into the flower industry?

I was very fortunate on finding a job in a flower shop in Roppongi, Tokyo when I was 21 years old.  Simply, I have been loving flowers ever since I was a child.

Why did you become an AIFD® member?

A friend of mine who was an AIFD® member introduced and invited me to one of the AIFD® National Symposiums.  I admired their passion and impressed by advanced floral design technique so it didn’t take long to decide to join.  I was inducted into the AIFD® in 2002.

What are your plans for flowers in 2023? Goals? Inspirations?

As we are slowly but certainly going back to our normal life, I would like to continue traveling around the world and of course, in Japan to share world’s trends and latest floral design technique besides teaching professional floral designers, shop owners and instructors at my school, Shuouka.  It was the most remarkable moment in my life that the team and I were on the AIFD® Symposium’s stage to present my program “The Kabuki” in Las Vegas, sponsored by the AIFD Foundation in 2013.  I would love to come back to the stage someday soon to present another program.
