There’s a natural rhythm to this time of year—busy schedules, full calendars, and a steady stream of events, deadlines, and commitments. It’s easy to get caught up in the pace of it all, focusing on what’s next, what’s due, and what needs our attention.
But it’s also a good moment to pause and reflect on something that sits at the heart of who we are as an organization: our community.

In an industry built on creativity and individual expression, it’s natural that there will be moments of comparison, competition, and differing perspectives. That’s not a weakness—it’s part of what pushes us to grow, refine our skills, and raise the standard of what we do. But what defines us isn’t competition alone. It’s how we show up for one another alongside it.
The strength of this organization has never been about who does something best—it’s about how we learn from each other, support each other, and create space for both seasoned professionals and those just finding their footing. It’s in the willingness to share knowledge, to mentor, to encourage, and sometimes simply to listen.

Community doesn’t happen by accident. It’s built in small moments—welcoming someone new, offering guidance without being asked, celebrating another person’s success as genuinely as your own. These are the things that shape the culture we’re all a part of.
As we continue through a busy season, I’d encourage all of us to be mindful of the role we each play in that culture. The way we communicate, collaborate, and support one another matters. It sets the tone not just for today, but for the future of our organization and our industry.

One of the best opportunities we have to strengthen those connections is coming up soon at the AIFD® Symposium: ELEVATE. It’s more than an event, it’s a chance to learn, share, reconnect, and experience firsthand the energy of this community at its best. If you’re able to attend, I encourage you to be part of it.
You can learn more and register here: https://aifd.org/2026-symposium-elevate/
We all benefit when we choose connection over comparison, collaboration over competition, and respect in every interaction.
Thank you for being part of what makes this community strong.
