Symposia Past and in the Future

by Janet Black AIFD, CFD | AIFD® Historian

I am so looking forward to packing my bags to Journey (‘15) once again to enjoy Chicago, the beautiful windy city. July 2021 can’t come soon enough.

We will be greeted by our Co-Coordinators Carol Inskeep AIFD and Loann Burke AIFD as they present An Educational Extravaganza (‘94), DNA (‘21).

The Vision (‘20) Sandy Schroeck AIFD and Deborah De La Flor AIFD developed with Passion (‘13) and Inspiration (‘16) will be melded into a true Collaboration (‘08) of Visions (‘00).

The best part of a symposium for me is the Waves (‘02) of the emotion, excitement and anticipation meeting my floral friends and making new ones each year. We gather together in this crazy Odyssey..A Floral Journey (‘97) of sorts that takes on a Transition Transformation (‘14). The experience of New Forces in Design (‘83) creating a Phenomenon (‘06) is hard to describe to anyone who has never attended.

Our International Members will be Coming to America, Rediscovering Our Floral Heritage (‘98) for An American View (‘88). It is a treat to have the Windows of the World (‘87) come together.  I appreciate the Fusion (‘04) of our cultures. We all will Discover (’18) Object d’Art (’93) of floral excellence though our Industry Partners, Students and invited guests.

We all will be feeling like we are on The Edge of Paradise (‘07) the Magic (‘92) will Awaken (‘19) us. The experience is so unusual, it is like a Kaleidoscope the Infinite Changes in Design (‘95) that will penetrate in our minds. We will take back to our experiences to our customers and employees, for a Show and Tell (’75).

It’s a Balance (‘05) as we go Across the Nation with AIFD® (‘79) each year. It has been a huge Revolution (‘10) as communication has been mostly a zoom. I will be preparing for a Star Spangled Symposium (‘76) in July of 2021 as we celebrate the fantastic Milestones (‘01) we have encountered this year. Please know, we will all be together for a Caliente (‘12) time and create successful Bridges- Through the Floral Community (‘99) once again.
